How to begin a big post about our extra huggable, tiny little guy!
3 years old, even! (Owen always mistakes the placement of the word "even" in a sentence and it's absolutely adorable.)
Owen, O's, O's-boze, Oboes, O baby's...his list of endearing nicknames is as long as his list of feelings at any given moment. Most surprising to all of us was his sudden declaration that he did not like those nicknames! O's is the only acceptable nickname to be used going forward. Always one to stand up for himself, Owen has taught us just how important it is for him to be his own, unique person.
Wild, spunky, daring, determined and brave, he is up for any challenge, with absolutely no reservations. If everybody else can do it, then why not him?! He jumped right into swim lessons, preschool, and primary, and has eagerly attempted to learn all the same sports that Auggie has been learning.
Owen is also one of the sweetest, most empathetic kiddos. He's consistent with his desire for hugs (soft though, not too hard!), and he immediately runs into my arms when anything in life goes wrong. When things go wrong with other people, he runs to them just the same. If someone is crying, he's right there trying to fix the situation. We love his kindness so much!
Each kid has their thing, and Owen is enthusiastically all about trains. He loves all kinds of trains. Freight trains, high-speed trains, passenger trains, mountain trains, snow trains, subway trains, etc! In fact, one of our most favorite memories was when our newly talking, 18-month old Owen ran around the streets of New York shouting with pure excitement, "Ubway! Ubway! Ubwaaay!" every time he heard the subway run underneath the sidewalk. Even as a toddler, he was simply mesmerized by the fast moving cars. There is also something about lining the cars up and attaching them together that really makes him tick. All day, everyday.
Favorite Words:
Bo wo wo = Bulldozer
Cap Mers = Captain America
Yooook! = Look!
Yet's check = Let's check
Yondon = London
Noey/Neigh/Neee = No
Before Owen learned all of his correct past tense conjugations, he used to say that he "did do" something to avoid the problem altogether. So funny. Rather than say, "I ate the bread" he would say, "I did eat the bread". I did eat my peas! Mom, I did wash my hands! Such a cute phase.
Quotes:
"The weather is yummy!", which he assumed was the correct context for our conversations about how good the weather is :).
"How did the Phantom make the chandelier fall?!" So smart.
"The sun is looking at me!!" A most excellent way to describe that the sun is in his eyes.
"Can I hold you?"/"Hold you's!!!" Whenever O's wants to be picked up or hugged, he says this.
"O's, who's your person? Juuuuuuuuust me."
Favorite things:
Kitty. Owen kinda imprinted on the little calico, beanie baby kitty I had growing up. He looooves kitty!
