Las Vegas Trips 1 & 2

Las Vegas Trip #1:

Vegas, baby!  We've taken a few weekend trips to Las Vegas this spring, and the kids have loved it!  Trip number one was in April to watch Don run the Mt. Charleston Half.  He had a great race!

This trip was all about the M&M store.  We don't normally go into stores like this, but we were feeling generous.  

Well, of course the kids loved it!  The best part was the surprising number of M&M statues, which gave the kids a fun idea to take pictures with as many statues as possible.  An impromptu M&M scavenger hunt!  I didn't post all the statue pictures because I've already got too many pictures and need to narrow my selection down...

Las Vegas Trip #2:

Our second trip was just for fun, and we had a blast!  We made some new memories this go-round.  For starters, we stayed at the Excalibur because we just knew the kids would be beyond excited to stay at a castle!  And...it's fairly grimy, therefore, really cheap 😆.

Ok.  I think the highlight of this trip was the Puma store.  Don had been wanting to go look at a brand new running shoe that was only available at the Las Vegas flagship location, so we all obliged.  Little did we know there were free, very realistic F1 simulators on the third floor!!  I guess Puma is the sponsor for Formula 1, so the store was decked out with F1 paraphernalia, etc.  The simulators were amazing!  So lifelike, and we all got turns driving multiple F1 courses.  

Another first for everybody but Don was the Blue Man Group!  Don had seen it as kid, and it was awesome.  Sensory bombardment for sure (the kids needed earplugs), but it was fun!

We reconnected with some friends from Pittsburgh, Alex and Troy, who now live in Las Vegas.  We went to brunch and a park, and then did a little train ride with the kids.

Last but not least, we took the kids on a fun walk through the Venetian.  They loved seeing the gondolas and the canal.  We stopped for some macaroons and enjoyed pretending we were in Italy for the afternoon!
