Spring in St. George is prime hiking season! All day, everyday.
{Pioneer Park slot canyon}
Auggie has been asking me to climb the Pioneer Park slot canyon with him for over a year now, and I have always chickened out. It is a very narrow slot canyon that you have to shimmy along sideways for fifty meters or so. It's always just felt too scary and claustrophobic for me! Don and Auggie have done it so many times, and Owen has been begging us to let him do it too. So, one day I thought what the heck, let's do this. And I did! And it was so fun!
{Snow Canyon - Petrified Dunes}
{Snow Canyon - Sand Dunes}
This was such a fun day! The kids looooved the sand dunes, and Auggie kept mentioning how much it looked like Tatooine from Star Wars. Well, that turned into an entire Jedi photoshoot in the high desert winds! We edited in some light sabers which was a total blast. Somewhere in there, Owen was a sand gorilla too.
{Snow Canyon - Lava Tubes}
Wow. I have never been to the lava tubes before, and they were so cool!! Huge caverns, but also tiny little spelunking tubes. The kids were beyond excited to bring their flashlights on a darkness adventure. There was no fear from either kid, just full steam ahead!
Some major spelunking happening!
{Snow Canyon - Butterfly Rock}
{Zion - The Narrows}
We didn't have proper gear to really take the kids into the Narrows, but they wanted to dip their toes in the water! It was freezing cold, and Owen didn't make it too far. But Auggie, on the other hand, was both brave and excited! He and Don traversed the river, and it got almost waist deep for little Auggie! He wanted to keep going, but some friends were waiting for us so they had to turn back. Cool kid!
{Kolob Canyon - Taylor Creek Trail}
