As a newborn, he did have trouble with his breathing which really scared me. For about four nights, Don and I traded off staying awake allllllll night holding him upright because I was so scared he would stop breathing! For some reason, he had such a hard time getting air through his nose when we laid him down at night. We tried everything...two trips to the hospital for professional nose-sucking, saline every night, Nose Frida (a baby must-have!), wedge pillow to prop him up, humidifier during sleep, and only two ounces of formula at a time to avoid reflux. Thankfully, he sort of just grew out of it as he got bigger and it hasn't been a problem since.
He also grew out of a positional clubfoot situation, which we were a little worried about as well. We took him to a specialist early on to make sure it was ok, and she assured us Owen's foot did not need treatment. She was right! He's five months old now, and his foot has straightened itself out beautifully.
Both sets of grandparents came to stay and help out on different weeks, and it was fun to see family throughout that first month.
Also, side note: It's amazing to notice the differences between Auggie and Owen, even as early as the first month. Auggie has always been our playful one, our funny comedian, our on-the-go, laugh all day and have a party kid. Owen seems a little different. He is a little snuggle-bug. He loves every opportunity to be squished and smooshed and cuddled. Owen will take a hug over a tickle any day. This isn't to say Auggie can't be sweet and cuddly, or that Owen won't be funny and outgoing, but they are unique! I love that they have their own personalities, and it makes me all the more excited to see who they will become someday.
