The next few posts are going to be more pictures, less writing. I'm backlogged and gotta catch up!
A couple months ago, Don's family came down for the weekend and we went on a day trip to the Valley of Fire. It's a state park in Nevada that's a little over an hour away from St. George. Also, I had no idea that St. George was so close to the Arizona border. Like, fifteen minutes! On our way to Valley of Fire, we drove through three different states within an hour. Utah ---> Arizona ---> Nevada. Pretty cool.
Valley of Fire was incredible. With all the kids we only did one hike, but it was worth it. We hiked to the Fire Wave, which looks just like sounds.
I mean, tell me this doesn't look like an album cover photo:
The best part of the weekend though, imo, was when Don and I snuck down to Vegas for the night. Michelle offered to watch the kids, which was awesome. We didn't take any pictures, didn't tell anyone we were going ('twas a bit of a Covid risk at the time...🙈), didn't post it on Instagram. It was just us.
We went for an evening run on the Strip, dressed up for dinner, bought fancy chocolates for dessert, and watched the Bellagio fountain show. The next morning we went to the gym and waited way too long for Shake Shack before heading home. It was less than 24 hours, but that grimy, smoky night on the Strip is definitely a YOLO memory banked in my heart.
